Candice Swanepoel Nude on Kate Lanphear’s First Maxim Cover
As a testament to her industry sensibilities, understanding of woman, and her desire to portray women, “as three-dimensional as they actually are,” Candice Swanepoel’s nudity is decidedly different from previous Maxim covers. Shot on the beach by photographer Gilles Bensimon––former international creative director of Elle––Candice looks amazing and her lack of clothing is far from the in-your-face nudity of the Sports Illustrated variety.
The photos capture Candice’s famously drop dead looks and the inherent beauty of mundane tasks, like eating fruit or wringing out a wet shirt, rather than objectifying her as a sex symbol. The absence of a heavy-handed male gaze is apparent––see for yourself in the galley above.
