CHLOE SPRING-SUMMER 2017 Press Presentation
“For me this collection is about going back to the roots and simplicity of French style, for effortless clothes in beautiful proportions. Square volumes and crisp fabrics keep the message strong and graphic, with a hint of floral innocence.” – Clare Waight Keller
Poised for the city, the collection embraces a sartorial palette of optic white, navy, black, carmine red, taupe and marine blue lifted by pure shades of blush pink and pale yellow. The rub of suede or cotton lace contrasts smooth twill and knife pleat georgette, giving way to the floating ebb of printed cloque and undulating ruffled plissé.
Laced and buttoned cotton lingerie creates an ultra-feminine counterpart to cargo trousers with patch pockets or a distinct tapered sarouel shape, as spacious romper and pinafore shapes are belted with an o-ring sash. Shorts and V-neck sweaters are finished with shirting cuffs or a cotton drawstring hem, whilst square neck envelope tops are knotted in bows at the shoulder or wrist. Topstitch borders and ‘jour échelle’ ladder trims adorn the tiers of sheer evening blouses and flounced slip dresses, before a passage of ruched floral print ensembles cascade from the shoulders in a closing gesture of nonchalant ease.
The Spring-Summer 2017 collection is worn with double strap graphic leather sandals and the ‘Faye’ backpack or ‘Nile’ bracelet bag in calf leather and suede marquetry. Continuing Gaby Aghion’s tradition of the Chloé Alphabet, a new charm bracelet collection bears the letters of each model’s given name on a gold chain.
